Whitney Hansen is running for District 2 Douglas County Commissioner. 
​
Whitney graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in May of 2019 and has taught in a variety of public schools since she earned her teaching certificate. She has taught high school English for Millard Public Schools since 2022. In addition to her standard classroom duties, Whitney hosts a variety of clubs such as Slam Poetry Club and Sexuality and Gender Acceptance Club. In order to further her education, Whitney is currently pursuing an MA in English and Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.

Whitney is deeply involved in the Omaha community through a variety of events. Each summer, she hosts a local Pride Prom that has raised thousands of dollars for organizations such as The Trevor Project and Omaha ForUs. She also hosts Omaha Community Coffee, which works to bring people closer to local social justice organizations while supporting small Omaha businesses. Additionally, Whitney works as a contracted teaching artist and as a volunteer for RISE, a nonprofit reentry program for incarcerated individuals.

Whitney happily resides in the Blackstone neighborhood of Omaha.
